Over the weekend, Kuala Lumpur recorded a total number of 1,308 new Covid-19 cases (711 new cases on Saturday and 597 new cases on Sunday).

But, that didn’t stop Malaysians from hitting the streets of Bukit Bintang and creating traffic in Kuala Lumpur that can only be described as what the city looked like before Covid-19.

BERNAMA took to their Twitter page to showcase images of the scene.

They wrote, “The number of vehicles increased on weekend nights as foto BERNAMA surveyed Jalan Bukit Bintang today (4 September), possibly due to people starting to go out for shopping and eating at restaurants that are allowed to operate until 10pm.”

While some netizens celebrated the traffic as a sign of the economy’s rise from the ashes, others were not so enthusiastic about the situation.

“This is a sign of Malaysia’s economic recovery. The people must accept the fact that we have to live with the virus. We can’t lock ourselves at home for the rest of our lives,” one netizen shared their opinion in the comments.

“Oh my God, the cases will rise. Oh no, we will fail again, right? Because even while vaccinated, we can still be infected. So saddening to see that there are some who are bringing their children out when they haven’t been vaccinated yet and can easily be infected,” another netizen wrote.

Where do you stand on the newly increased traffic in Bukit Bintang?
