At an event in Sekolah Tahfiz dan Asrama Anak Yatim Angkatan Tentera Malaysia (STAY ATM) in Kem Perdana Sungai Besi, Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has said,

“I know that the rakyat is angry, but our main aim is to save lives.”

He elaborated and said that the move to enforce MCO 3.0 is based on the HIDE system (Hotspots Identification for Dynamic Engagement) and advice from the Ministry of Health based on data from MySejahtera.

“The rakyat needs to understand that the government does not want to make its people suffer. We don’t want Malaysia to end up like India where the cases are uncontrollable now.”

He has also said that according to the Ministry of Health’s prediction, it is not impossible to hit 5,000 cases after Aidilfitri if they fail to contain Covid-19, reported Sinar Harian.

“It it gets up to 10,000 cases per day, we could face a similar situation as India and the government does not want to see the rakyat die like that.”

“This is why it’s important to intervene immediately and I hope that the rakyat understands that this action was taken in order to protect their lives.”
