It’s truly saddening when the elderly are left by their families in old folks homes, though it is understandable that some of these families may not have the funds or capabilities to care for their elderly family members the way that they need it.

Thankfully, old folks homes have been doing their best to look after the elderly folks who have been entrusted under their care. However, they too, need all the help they can get.

This welfare centre located in Taman Seri Serdang presently houses 13 elderly folks from different backgrounds. They offer care to the elderly while providing them with a safe environment to call ‘home’.

And they’ve been doing this out of kindness, as they do not charge fees to take in elderly folks in need.

“As Xiao Xin Serdang Old Folks Home has been established for 1 year and 11 months, very few people are aware of the existence of this centre. Our centre is free of charge, to accommodate the elderly,” they shared with WORLD OF BUZZ.

Hence, in giving kindness, they hope to receive the same from the general public.

“The centre relies on donations from the community to cover its expenses. We hope that a fundraising campaign will help more people to find out about the centre and receive more support so that we can build up the Xiao Xin Serdang Old Folks Home and give this group of homeless elderly folks a home to live in,” they said, adding that they are open to welcoming more elderly folks in need.

But, they don’t just need donations.

So, let’s try and support them however we can. Together, we can help their cause by either donating or visiting their home to put a smile on the faces of the elderly who call their centre ‘home’.
