While extension of the MCO means one thing for us, for some people it means they go hungry for one more day without any money.

A few days ago, a video went viral on Twitter and TikTok showing a mother of four in Kelantan rummaging through a garbage bin trying to find things to sell and food for her children. The person who took the video then proceeded to give the mother some money for her to buy food for her children which the mother accepted in tears.

World of Buzz reached out to the original poster of the video, Nadya Zaira, who said she saw the mother looking for something in the trash while her children were playing and one of them was lying on the grass.

“At that time, we were really sad because there are still such people struggling for their life. I saw that she couldn’t stop from crying when she received the money my husband gave her.”

The video has since gone viral and netizens have been eager to help the mother who goes by Kak Sarinah. Thus, Nadya took up the responsibility to go over to Kak Sarinah’s house to provide them with some necessities after donations poured in from netizens.

Sarinah was abandoned by her husband when she was just three months pregnant with her fourth child. She currently lives with her sister’s family and there’s a total of 15 people in the house. Nadya said the house was in a very dilapidated condition and they didn’t really have space to live together.

Currently, Sarimah is receiving a monthly help of RM400 from Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat. When Nadya visited them, she distributed the donations she received and she revealed that one of the donors is a Malaysian artist.

Nadya thanked everyone who donated for the family and saved them from hunger especially during this MCO period. If you would like to donate for the family, you may do so by contacting Nadya at +60 14-311 9669.

We speak about #KitaJagaKita day in and day out and this is the true embodiment of this, Nadya and her husband tried their level best to help this family. May this also serve as a reminder for us to be truly grateful for what we have.
