Considering how regular citizens have recently gotten injured badly and some have even died due to accidents caused by potholes, it’s truly painful and saddening to know that the authorities still neglect pothole reports by the community, prompting them to take matters into their own hands.

The Negeri Sembilan kini Facebook page took to their profile to showcase an elderly uncle filling up potholes on his own, as traffic goes by next to him.

They wrote, “This uncle is the best. Genuine effort that helps the people. The effort of someone that cares for road users. It looks small but it’s huge to us. Thank you.”

This initiative by the community started after many called out the Kuala Langat roadworks department for apologising to the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Khairy Jamaluddin, after he had hit a pothole and fell from his bicycle, causing him to sustain minor injuries.

Many saw this as inequality in its strongest form, especially considering how their reports of potholes have been dismissed and ignored.

We genuinely hope that the designated authorities look into fixing our roads and properly responding to reports before more innocent Malaysians get hurt.

And to this uncle, thank you so much for your service.

What do you think about this? Let us know in the comment section.
