The distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine that will be obtained by Malaysia in the first quarter of next year will only involve individuals aged 18 and above.

Director-General of Health – Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said, as reported by RTM, that it is because the research to develop vaccines by producing countries only involves adults. Tests on the effectiveness of the use of the vaccine in children aged 12 and under have not been used.

If the vaccine is given to the group, it will be at risk of causing side effects. He also informed that the government is ready to procure vaccines from more than one manufacturer, to ensure an adequate supply of vaccines for the use of Malaysians. However, the vaccine that will be obtained next year, can only guarantee access to 30% of Malaysians only.
