Hijabi women have been trying different styles to elevate their looks such as putting on newer materials or designs. Also, there has been a recent fad of adding hijab hair clips to accessorize their hijab to look more stylish.

However, there’s a new type of accessory that will surely catch the attention of women donning hijabs: pinrings! Earrings are a little difficult to wear for hijabi women, so Malaysian student, Fatini came up with a brilliant idea to transform earrings into pins.

Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, Fatini shared that she saw one of her friends fashion two dangly broaches both sides of her hijab to imitate earrings. Wanting to wear earrings for her diploma graduation without having her hair and ears poking out, her hunt for those brooches began.

Upon realising how bulky and uncomfortable the brooches were, she started tinkering with her own earrings and added a straight pin to it. From there, she made her first-ever pinrings in 2017.

The 22-year-old has been making pinrings for her and her sisters and received so many compliments from her family members and friends. So when given the suggestion to make a business out of it, she was immediately on board with it. Already familiar with making the pinrings for a year, she knew exactly what she needed to make her business come to life.

She received a lot of help from her mom in terms of support and giving her encouragements. Fatini also shared that her mom was the one who came up with the name “LushPins”. Fatini also did some research and planning for raw materials, packaging and target market to ensure that the launch of her business is a success.

“And when I say “we,” I mean my mom and I because she was one of the most important people that helped with the initial development and ideation of the company.”

When asked about her viral TikTok video that was reposted by someone from the US on their Twitter account, Fatini expressed she was extremely busy with taking orders that she only found out about it from her friend. She was flattered and grateful to receive so many positive and supportive comments and DMs from people online.

Fatini is eternally grateful for all the kind words that netizens and customers have given her. She didn’t expect that people would take their time to show their love and support for her business. She further shared that she wants to build a genuine connection with her customers in hopes that they’ll give her honest feedback so that her business continues to improve.

“But what I feared the most was actual customers’ feedback, but Alhamdulilah they were positive too.”

She explains that her customers are her utmost priority in terms of short-term goals she wants to achieve. She wants to make certain that her pinrings are in good quality, the delivery is quick and that she’s responsive to her customers. She has set many goals that she wants to make sure come true such as increasing the product line of her pinrings and collaborating with jewellery companies.

“Hopefully, these are goals that LushPins can achieve, that creates a loving community that celebrates and empower women despite their beliefs and practices.”
