Your non-average local petai seller in Kampung Slim, Perak has an interesting marketing strategy that has catapulted his business. Donned in a Spiderman suit, this 22-year-old business major student, Selvakumar K Tharmalingam, has customers lined up to buy his petai bundles.

Selvakumar shared with WORLD OF BUZZ that he had taken over his grandfather’s petai business and has been running it for two months now since the enactment of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO). The reason he chose Spiderman is simply because everybody loves the friendly and energetic Marvel hero, so it was a great business tactic to attract more customers, especially those who are fans of the superhero.

He continued that the overwhelming support from the online community has been amazing and has kept him motivated to further his petai bundle business as Spiderman Petai (@spiderman_petai). He’s delighted to hear and read positive reviews from both Instagram comments and customers.

Currently studying a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration of International Business online due to the Covid-19 outbreak, Selvakumar puts on his Spiderman gear in his free time and rushes out to save all the petai lovers in Perak.

“With great power comes great responsibility” as Spiderman would say, and our local hero Spiderman Petai surely lives up to that as well. What do you guys think of this? Sound off in the comments below!
