Food aid woes seem to have plagued the Malaysian government as of late, with controversies erupting over the alleged discrepancies between their contents, and extended delays. Well, these woes only seem to continue after Cheras MP Tan Kok Wai, who raised the alarm over his constituency’s food packs remaining undistributed, found out that they have still remained kept in storage.

This follows after Mr Tan had already voiced his concerns over the undistributed food packs over four days ago, where they have remained kept in the Bandar Tun Razak Sports Complex in Cheras. Speaking to Malaysiakini, Mr Tan says he had already been receiving requests from his constituents appealing for food packs, but has yet to receive the green light from the authorities to distribute them.

“No approval letter is given to us. Without the approval letter, we cannot collect or distribute aid,” he said.

Mr Tan goes on to refute the claims from Women, Family and Community Development Minister Rina Harun, who said that no parties are being discriminated against during the distribution of food aid during the MCO period.

He says Rina must give a proper and reasonable explanation as people are crying for help.

According to checks on the contents of the food aid, the Cheras MP received food aid packs that were worth over RM110 in retail value, which included items such as 10kg of rice, 3 packs of cooking oil, 3 packs of sugar, and others.

What do you guys think of this development?
