The KL Monorail is finally getting some major upgrades, and commuters can expect some great changes later this year!

According to The Sun Daily, Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook has announced that three four-coach KL Monorail trains will begin operating this August in an effort to reduce congestion, especially during peak hours.

The minister was quoted as saying,

“The six two-coach trains are insufficient; passengers complained that the trains are always packed during rush hour making their ride rather uncomfortable.”

“So two sets are being repaired but we need a minimum of three sets. If we don’t get another two sets, consumers will complain, because we had promised to resolve the monorail issue and hopefully they can start operating again on 16th August.”

On top of that, Anthony Loke also announced that two more sets are expected to begin operations in November 2019, which will reportedly increase passenger capacity from 31,000 to 70,000.

Back in 2015, the KL Monorail operated five four-coach trains and six two-coach trains, but only the six two-coach trains are currently in operation.
