It’s been a week since Ramadan started. That means you’ll find a bazaar at any corner!

We all know how difficult it is to find parking when visiting any night market especially during Ramadan.

Luckily, this church in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah opens its gates and parking lot every Ramadan to allow Muslims and non-Muslims to park their cars while they visit the nearby Ramadan bazaars.

The Star stated that this amazing practice has been happening for 6 years!

One bazaar visitor, Mohd Zaki Harry Susanto, shared a video of Church of Mary Immaculate opening its compound to the public. In this video, he described what was happening while also mentioning this is what makes Sabah beautiful and this beauty should be maintained.

A trader here said that there’s no problem for Muslims and non-Muslims to carry out activities or programmes next to each other. He also brought up a beautiful quote:

“Togetherness brings blessings.”

An 82-year-old Sabahan, Junin Bebi, said that everyone — regardless of race and religion — is friends and family in Sabah.

“I have seen many good things and close ties among people of all religions here. I hope we will not lose this special bond that we share in Sabah.”

Junin Bebi also mentioned that it’s saddening that incidents involving hate crime and religious-based propaganda are increasing in other parts of the world, including Malaysia.

It can be seen that the people of Sabah really treasure their relationship with each other. We hope that this can be emulated in the rest of Malaysia, too!

It’s heartwarming to see Malaysians overlook religion and race to spread love. Let’s make this a reality all over Malaysia!
