If you rely on RapidKL buses for transportation then do take note!

RapidKL just revealed that they will be fully adopting the new cashless system for their buses in Klang Valley, starting 15 April 2019. According to The Star, the new cashless system which will gradually replace the existing payment system can be used using two different cards. These cards are mentioned below:

  • Touch ‘n Go (TNG) card (including Concession Card)
  • RapidKL Unlimited Pass (My100 & My50)

That said, TNG card users will still get to enjoy 20 per cent off the normal bus fare as well.

They also mentioned that senior citizens, the disabled and students can still enjoy the half-priced fare but they will have to apply for the MyRapid Touch n’ Go Concession Card first.

Now, the cashless payment system isn’t unfamiliar to the regular passengers because all you have to do is: Tap your card (TNG or unlimited pass) when boarding the bus and tap your card again before you leave the bus. But if you aren’t too sure about the process, you can ask for help from the driver!

Adding on, RapidKL shared that the rollout will be conducted in stages as they will first begin in Ampang on April 15. Not only that, they shared a list of bus routes which will slowly shift to the cashless payment system.

You can check out the list below:

On the other hand, if you want to purchase the TNG card, you’d be glad to know that you can buy one from RapidKL buses once they’ve completely adopted the cashless system. The cards purchased on the bus will cost RM10 and be preloaded with RM4.80 of credit.

However, if you want the concession card, you can only apply for them at Pasar Seni Hub. Meanwhile, the Unlimited Travel Pass can be purchased at all LRT, MRT, Monorail and BRT stations. Nice!

So, if you know anyone who travels within Klang Valley quite often and takes the bus, don’t forget to share this article to let them know of RapidKL’s new payment system.
