Doctors were excited when Fraser Watt finally woke up from a 24-hour coma after a horrific car accident. However, they were shocked when Fraser could only speak Malay to them.

Fraser who is now 60, was only 24 years old when he got into the horrible car accident that almost took his life.

As reported by Daily Mail, he could speak Malay and Chinese as a child because he grew up in Borneo. His family had moved there because his father worked as a civil engineer there at that time.

But when the accident occurred, he was already living in Scotland for almost 20 years. He said,

“Everyone was stunned when I spoke Malay. So was I because, although I was fluent as a child, I hadn’t spoken Malay for 19 years before the crash.”

Fraser explained that his mom had to translate for the doctors until his English came back.

Mr Fraser Watt also shared that his memory is now scrambled but sometimes he will remember specific memories. Additionally, he experiences piercing headaches on a daily basis as a result of his injuries.

Watt shares how hard it is to live with a disability because without any physical symptoms, people think he’s stupid when it just takes time for him to recall memories.

He shared his unusual experience at the opening of a new office for Edinburgh Headway, a charity group with the goal of empowering the lives of those who have survived through brain injury.
