Forbes Asia just unveiled its 2019 Malaysia Rich List, highlighting the net worth of 50 notable businessmen. However, Forbes did note that due to Malaysia’s slow economic growth over the past year, business was not very good for about 30 of the billionaires listed, as their wealth actually shrank. Meanwhile, only 11 of those on this list saw gains this past year.

Some factors that probably contributed to this shrink in wealth are the country’s stocks taking a hit in the past year, the Ringgit slipping 3 per cent against the US Dollar, and the historic events of GE14 that happened in May 2018. However, despite these obstacles, many of these tycoons still landed among the list of Malaysia’s richest people.
