Teachers are some of the most important people who help shape our formative years, so it’s great to see them being celebrated!

According to The Sun, one of our very own has been shortlisted for the prestigious Varkey Foundation Global Teacher Prize (GTP) 2019 worth USD$1 million (approx. RM4.18 million)!

Muhamad Khairul Anuar Hussin from SMK Taman Universiti 2, Johor Bahru is one of the 50 teachers from around the world to be shortlisted for this prize. He is also the only Malaysian to be picked out of over 10,000 applications from 179 countries. Judging by his achievements, he definitely deserves to be shortlisted!

Muhamad Khairul is a special needs teacher who has gone above and beyond for his students by helping them prepare for the real world. He decided to develop an inclusive education model to help special needs students to socialise more with their other classmates so they can eventually enter mainstream schools.

According to the Malay Mail, this education model has been recognised by the Ministry of Education and it has already been incorporated in its special educational needs teaching policy and guidance.

All the best to Khairul Anuar, and no matter the outcome, we’re extremely proud of you and your contributions to Malaysia’s future!
