Malaysians will get to enjoy a “tax holiday” of three months until the Sales and Service Tax (SST) is expected to start on September 1. So, enjoy while you can ya! The Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism (KPDNKK) has also warned traders to comply with the government’s directive and not manipulate prices.

As businesses are scrambling to update their system to adhere to the new zero-rated GST, some of the price tags on their shelves may not reflect the price changes yet. KPDNKK says that businesses have until June 30 to make the changes to their price tags but they must not charge GST when customers are paying for their items.
