Most Malaysian cities are known for its obnoxious traffic jams. However, no matter how busy the street is, there will be the a-holes inconsiderate Malaysians who think their time is much valuable than others’ and uses the emergency lane instead.

Puvan, a medical officer from Hospital Besar Tampin recently shared his frustrations on Facebook, pointing out the problems an ambulance faces during an emergency.

A lot of people may think using the emergency lane is no big deal, but Puvan tells otherwise.

In this particular case, Puvan was in an ambulance rushing to a scene of an accident about 22nd May, 4.30pm.

He writes,

“An accident took place at north-south highway Km228 today, backup ambulance service was requested by the first-emergency medical team on-scene.

The backup ambulance estimated to reach the scene within 20 mins BUT it did not..

Why? Blame it on our irresponsible malaysian drivers who hogged the emergency lane.

Despite ambulance siren wailing , road users pretended to be deaf and remained static. These irresponsible behaviour of road user is not the first time experienced by our emergency medical team but this is the worse scene ever.

Thanks to some motor bikers who helped to clear the emergency lane.

The arrival of backup ambulance was delayed approximately 60 mins.

On arrival , the victims were not at the scene and bystanders informed the medical team that a private ambulance which currently on the way back to its centre took the patient to nearest Hospital. The victims condition was critical according to information from bystanders.

Maybe some bystanders thought the Emergency medical team took it’s own sweet time to reach the scene, but trust me.. We want to do our duty, but was helpless at that moment.

To all the irresponsible road users who hogged the emergency lane today, just imagine if the victims is our family members or relatives, will you do the same?

Every second counts to save a life.

May the victims arrive at hospital on time and god bless them.”

Malaysians who came across his post criticized how inconsiderate these drivers are.

One user even commented, “The number plates of the culprits are clearly visible in the video. I hope the police arrest these selfish bastards and lock them up.”

Puvan’s PSA was shared approximately 16,000 times on Facebook and it serves as a dire reminder to all Malaysians not to use the emergency lane as simply as you wish. Because as he has said, “every second counts to save a life”.
