Malaysia has recorded its highest-ever number of daily cases so far with 9,180 new infections as of 9 July.
This is the second time the number of cases has hit above the 9,000 mark.
According to the Ministry of Health (KKM), Selangor alone records a whopping 4,400 cases while Kuala Lumpur records 1,271 cases. Negeri Sembilan records close to 900 cases with 899 cases.

Meanwhile, the infectivity rate has increased as well with an r-naught value of 1.09 as of 8 July.
Just yesterday (8 July), Malaysia recorded 135 deaths, the highest number of daily deaths ever since the pandemic hit the country. Over 950 Covid-19 patients are currently in the ICU while close to 450 of them are in need of breathing assistance.
