In late last year, Michelin Guide Director, Gwendal Poullennec, revealed that anonymous food critics in Malaysia for 3 years had compiled 97 restaurants from across KL and Penang.
This became what’s known as the Michelin Guide.
Now, 8 restaurants — 3 in Kuala Lumpur and 5 in Penang — have been added to the Michelin Guide for Kuala Lumpur and Penang.
An announcement on the Michelin website confirmed that these restaurants were visited by their inspectors and “what they’ve found is too good to keep a secret.”
On the website, they wrote that, as of now, these restaurants will not have any designation of Stars, Green Stars or Bib Gourmands. But all this will be announced in the upcoming annual Michelin Guide ceremony.
The statement also stated that there will be two releases of restaurants before the ceremony and that this marks the first one.
The new restaurants in Kuala Lumpur are Hor Poh Cuisine, Jalan Ipoh Claypot Chicken Rice, and Roti by D’Tandoor.
Meanwhile, the ones in Penang are Ah Boy Koay Teow Th’ng, Ghee Lian, Hot Bowl White Curry Mee, My Own Cafe, and Siam Road Char Koay Teow.
