A fire in Likas has razed 80 homes leaving 669 people homeless in Kampung Cempaka due to unknown circumstances.
A video that made its way onto social media witnessed the closely packed squatter houses posing a huge challenge for firefighters to contain the fire.
The incident, which took place just a day before Ramadan, happened around 5:41 am. According to Lintas Fire and Rescue Station Chief Agustavia Joe Guasi, two teams from the Lintas and Kota Kinabalu fire stations attempted to contain the fire.
They eventually managed to contain it around 7:32 am and reported that the incident involved no loss of lives.
