Age gaps are tricky when it comes to couples.
Recently, a couple with 37 years age gap has made international headlines – Wuthichai Chantaraj, 19, and Janla Namuangrak, 56, who are both from the Sakhon Nakhon province of northeast Thailand, reported The Mirror.
The couple met each other when Wuthichai was 10 years old and Janla, a divorcee and mother of 3 had asked for Wuthichai’s help with some chores around the house. After he helped move the flower pots and cleaned her house several times, they managed to form a friendship.
Their romantic relationship started around 2 years ago and they enjoy going on dates in restaurants and in the town area. They are also not shy about holding each other’s hands or giving kisses to one another.
“I have been with Janla for 2 years now. It’s the 1st time in my life where I felt like I wanted to make sure someone was living comfortably,” said Wuthichai.
He elaborated, “I saw her shabby house and found myself thinking of ways to help her live in a better condition. She is a hardworking woman and also honest. I admire her.”
Up until the beginning of this year, the couple had kept their relationship under wraps.
“When we told people we are in love, they thought we are crazy. My children were shocked,” Janla said.
However, criticism did not deter the lovebirds and she adds that her boyfriend makes her feel young again.
“Wuthichai has been like a superhero for me. He helped me every day. Then when he was older we began to have feelings for each other. I was surprised, because I have known him since he was child.”
She added, “but he makes me feel young again and we have stayed together. We’re happy. We will get married.”
The couple is now engaged and not much information is known about how they would want their ceremony.
