On February 19, a 27-year-old lorry driver led the Road Transport Department (JPJ) on a nearly one-hour-long chase before his vehicle crashed into a house in Melaka.
While being chased by enforcement officers, the driver jumped out of his five-tonne lorry, leaving it to crash into someone’s home, as reported by Berita Harian.

JPJ officers signalled the driver to stop
Melaka JPJ Director Muhammad Firdaus Shariff said the lorry was first spotted on the Sungai Udang–Paya Rumput–Ayer Keroh (SPA) Highway, where officers signalled the driver to stop.
“But the driver refused to stop, leading to a nearly one-hour chase covering 25 kilometers before reaching Taman Krubong Jaya where he then suddenly jumped out of the moving lorry, leaving it to go out of control and crash into a house on Jalan KJ51,” he said.
The crash damaged the fence and wall of the house, as well as a pickup truck. Luckily, no one was hurt, and the case has been handed over to the police.
A video (shared via MYNEWSHUB) of the chase also went viral, showing the lorry driving against traffic while being pursued by JPJ officers.
5 summonses were issued
Muhammad Firdaus said a report was made at the Durian Tunggal police station, showing that the lorry had eight past summonses, all of which were already settled.
“We issued five new summonses to the driver for not having a Competent Driving License (CDL) and Goods Driving License (GDL), running a red light, and reckless driving,” he said.
He also mentioned that the driver was finally caught with the help of local residents around 4:30 PM.
