A 2-year-old girl was tragically killed on Thursday (18 December) after she was hit by the car her father was reversing in the compound of their home in Taman Kesang Baru, Parit Bunga, Johor.
The toddler suffered severe head injuries as a result of the incident and was pronounced dead at the Sultanah Specialist Hospital in Muar at 7:30 PM.

In a statement, Tangkak District Police Deputy Chief DSP Jamelulkamal bin Abdul Halim said initial investigations found that at the time of the incident at 8:15 AM, the father was reversing his Suzuki Swift from the home garage.
The victim then suddenly darted out of the home and was in the path of the reversing vehicle, causing her to be hit. According to BERNAMA, the father is a 30-year-old man.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving.
If convicted, offenders may face a jail sentence between 5 and 10 years, a fine between RM20,000 and RM50,000 and be barred from holding a driving license for a minimum of 5 years.
“We urge the public to be mindful of young children’s whereabouts around the house,” stated Jamellulkamal.
