As reported by Berita Harian, the raid was conducted by the Marine Intelligence Unit of the Marine police Force (PPM) Port Klang, Selangor.

PPM Region One Commander, Assistant Commissioner Rusley Chi Ari, said that upon inspection, officers discovered that the man was transferring various brands of alcoholic beverages, believed to be untaxed, from the lorry to the school van.

In total, 56 boxes and 30 crates of liquor were discovered, worth RM10,664.40.

Meanwhile, the estimated tax value for the alcoholic beverages was RM36,889.57.

PPM believed that the suspect used the school van to avoid detection by the authorities, and that the alcoholic beverages were on their way to be distributed around Klang.

The authorities seized the items, as well as the two vehicles valued at RM70,000, bringing the total value of confiscation to RM117,553.97.

Rusley added,

“The suspect and the seized items were brought to the PPM Port Klang base for further action,”

Moreover, the suspect also admitted to being involved in the distribution of untaxed liquor around Klang during questioning.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 135(1)(d) of the Customs Act 1967, Section 74 of the Excise Act 1976 and the Road Transport Act 1987.
