A man suffering from depression fell from the 10th floor of an apartment building yesterday, 23 June, in Jalan Bagan Ajam, Butterworth, Penang.
According to Harian Metro, Seberang Perai Utara District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Noorzainy Mohd Noor said the police received a call from a 52-year-old man who is involved in the management of the apartment at 6.45pm regarding the incident.
According to him, the initial investigation found that the 26-year-old victim entered the apartment area by riding a motorcycle through the main road.
“The victim then took the elevator to the 10th floor before sitting on the ledge with his legs protruding out on the balcony and suddenly fell off.
The victim died due to severe injuries,” he explained.
He said the results of the interrogation on the victim’s 26-year-old wife, informed that her husband had been suffering from emotional stress for the past few days and had received treatment at a private clinic about four days ago.
“The victim began to experience depression after the business he ventured into failed and suffered losses. The investigation on the victim’s body did not find any criminal element,” he said.
The body was taken to Seberang Jaya Hospital (HSJ) for autopsy. The case has been classified as sudden death.
