A 21-year-old nanny has been sentenced to 10 months in jail and fined RM20,000 by the Sessions Court today (March 20) for 4 counts of physically abusing kids at a daycare in Taman Merbok Ria, Rasah, Seremban.
Puteri Nurin Amalin Ahmad Daud, however, stuck to her guilty plea for all 4 charges, which were read again in two separate courtrooms, as reported by Berita Harian.

She abused the kids for eating snacks
Judges Darmafikri Abu Adam and Datin Surita Budin ruled that her prison sentence would start from her arrest date on September 5, 2024, and run at the same time. If she doesn’t pay the fine, she’ll have to serve an extra 5 months in jail for each charge.
As a young offender, the court also gave her a 2-year good behaviour bond with a family member as a guarantor. On top of that, she has to do 120 hours of community service for each charge, which she’ll have to complete one after another after finishing her prison time.

Earlier, her lawyer, Najib Zakaria, asked for a lighter sentence, saying she never meant to hurt the kids and was merely trying to discipline them for eating snacks, which wasn’t allowed at the daycare.
“The accused regrets what she did and hopes the court will consider her plan to take up vocational training in baking or sewing once she’s done serving her sentence,” he said.

She pressed a hot metal spoon against them
However, lead prosecutor Ku Hayati Ku Haron pushed for a proper jail sentence and fine, saying it was in the public’s best interest.
The nanny was accused of scalding the arms of 4 young girls, aged 5 and 6, by pressing a hot metal spoon against them, which happened in August last year at a daycare centre.
She was charged under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 [Act 611] and sentenced under Section 31(1) of the same Act.
