Motorcycle accidents are unpredictable and can occur at any hour. When you’re out on the road, safety is never guaranteed. However, the incident we’re about to discuss is far from ordinary.
In a recent viral story making rounds online, an 18-year-old Malaysian woman lost her life late last night (February 27) in Miri, Sarawak.
According to the Miri District Police’s statement, it was reported that the young rider, who possessed a valid motorcycle driving license, was trying out a friend’s motorcycle when the accident occurred.
Miri’s Police Chief Assistant Commissioner, Alexson Naga Anak Chabu, confirmed that the incident occurred at approximately 12:58am.
Initial investigations indicate that the motorcycle was traveling from Tanjung Lubang towards Coco Cabana before making a U-turn to return in the opposite direction.
It was at that moment, the rider is believed to have lost control, resulting in the tragic accident.
Victim suffered fatal head injuries, leading to her death
According to Utusan Borneo, the Yamaha R25 motorcycle belonged to the victim’s friend. The motorcycle collided with large trees, causing the rider to be thrown off and sustain fatal head injuries upon impact with the ground.
The paramedics who arrived at the scene sadly confirmed that the victim’s injuries were severe and fatal, leaving a heavy atmosphere for those who witnessed the aftermath.
According to the reports filed, the police have initiated an investigation under section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
