Malaysians are experiencing a sense of deja vu recently after another teenage couple has been arrested by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and pleaded guilty to dangerous driving.

Furthermore, just like the previous underage couple that was arrested, this latest case was also made known to the police via a video of them doing a ‘wheelie’ with a motorcycle that went viral online.

As reported by BERNAMA, this latest teenage couple, both 17 years old pleaded guilty at the Kuantan Magistrate’s Court yesterday (5 May) for pulling off a dangerous stunt while riding a motorcycle last month.

The boy, who is a car wash centre worker was accused of doing a ‘wheelie’ while riding a white Honda EX5 motorcycle belonging to the boy’s mother along Jalan Chendor heading to Kemaman, Terengganu at 5.30pm on 12 March.

Meanwhile, the girl, who is still in school, was charged with pulling a similar act as the pillion rider. The couple was charged under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving.

The provision prescribes a maximum sentence of 5 years in jail and a fine up to RM15,000, as well as disqualification from holding or obtaining a driving licence for not less than 2 years from the date of conviction.

During the proceedings, both accused were unrepresented and pleaded for a lower bail because their families can’t afford the sum. The court allowed them bail of RM800 each in one surety and fixed June 7 for sentencing.
