Indian para-archer Sheetal Devi has gained attention from netizens around the world with her awe-inspiring performance at the Paris Paralympic Games.
The 17-year-old achieved something remarkable during her match in the Women’s Individual Compound Open Archery event, as she is among the few archers globally without arms.
She’s winning over fans in Paris!
In a video shared by @DuttShekhar on X (formerly known as Twitter), Sheetal uses her right leg to lift the bow, her right shoulder to draw the string, and the strength of her jaw to release the arrow.
Sheetal’s performance was acknowledged with thunderous applause from fans as she skillfully landed a flawless bullseye shot, giving her a perfect 10 score.
She broke the World Record with 703/720 points
According to NDTV Sports, Sheetal stole the show at the Paris Paralympics impressing everyone in the Women’s Individual Compound Archery qualifiers by breaking the old World Record of 698 with an amazing 703 points out of 720.
Even though she came close, losing to Chile’s Zuniga Mariana 137-138, which kept her from the knockout rounds, her performance still grabbed global attention.
Last year, Sheetal made headlines by clinching 3 medals at the Asian Para Games in Hangzhou. She won 2 gold medals in the individual and mixed team compound events and earned a silver in the doubles compound competition.
