As the trial of the case involving the abuse of a 13-year-old down syndrome continues, rumour has it that the accused, Siti Bainun has a good reason why she is able to hire 10 lawyers to defend her – with the help of Zahid Hamidi.

As the rumour is continuously spreading, Zahid Hamidi took to his Facebook account on Monday (17 April) and broke his silence on the matter.

“It is unfortunate to know that I’m being linked to the case by accusing me of helping the accused and that it is because of me she has 10 lawyers behind her back.”

In his post, Zahid Hamidi admitted that throughout his political career, he has helped a lot of people including those who approached him for charity purposes. However, he reiterated that he will never help anyone who is accused or involved in a crime.

The allegations started to surface after the picture of him and the alleged abuser, Siti Bainun, who is also the founder of the care home Rumah Bonda began circulating on social media.

“As a leader, how could I reject anyone’s request to take a photo together? It’s baseless to accuse me based on that photo alone.”

“How can I do so when even the accused knows I don’t have the power to do so?”

Zahid then continued and said,

“If I have the ability to influence the court, I might as well use the power to protect my own case.”

Sebagai insan seperti anda semua tentunya saya juga mengharapkan keadilan buat Bella dapat ditegakkan. Terlalu banyak…
