Today (29 March) marks the big day for science and environment minister, Yeo Bee Yin as she’s tying the knot with the love of her life, Lee Yeow Seng. This is definitely one of the most memorable days in her life and as such, Yeo has prepared a short but sweet anecdote to be shared with Malaysian netizens.
Here’s what she wrote.
“I grew up in an oil palm estate called Gomali Estate, where my mother worked as a clerk. When I was in kindergarten, Gomali Estate was bought over by his (Lee) father’s company. He grew up tagging along with his father on frequent visits to the clusters of estates in the area, including Gomali Estate. We didn’t meet. Or did we?”
“Growing up, I loved going to Paya Lang Club which is nearby to Gomali to swim during the weekends, (it was one of the employee benefits), and he loved to stop by for ice cream at the club whenever his father took him to visit the estates. We didn’t meet. Or did we?”
“The company gave academic awards to estate employees’ children who did well in major exams. I received awards from his father for PMR and later from his elder brother for SPM. We still didn’t meet. Or did we?”
“Then one day, the stars aligned. We met. And things amazingly fell into place.”
Aww, how sweet!
Based on the Facebook post, Yeo’s husband proposed to her during a punting tour at her alma mater, Cambridge University on 3 January 2019. She added that after living a happy single life for 35 years, she’s ready to start a new chapter with her husband.
“His name is Lee Yeow Seng. There are many introductions about him by others. But to me, he is the person whom I love and have made a commitment to continue to love, for the person he is,” Yeo wrote.
The team at WORLD OF BUZZ wishes the newlywed couple a long and happy life together. Congratulations!
