Kelantan is one of the states that has been declared a green zone with NO active cases recently. They previously recorded 155 confirmed cases but now, one new case has been recorded after a woman from Ampang arrived at Kuala Krai and tested positive for Covid-19.
According to Harian Metro, the pregnant woman had crossed the border when interstate travelling was allowed from the 7th to 10th May. She had gone to Kelantan to give birth to her unborn child but tested positive for the virus and is now being treated at the hospital.
The matter was confirmed by the State Local Government, Health and Housing Committee chairman Dr Izani Husin.
“From the information that I have received, what we have been afraid of this entire time is linked to border crossing,” he said.
“The victim (patient) came back when the interstate border was recently opened. The victim is said to be positive and is in the hospital for treatments,” he said when asked after the exco meeting in Kota Bahru today.
Investigations are currently being conducted to trace where the woman contracted the virus from, reported The Ministry of Health.
Meanwhile, over 1,600 cars have already been turned away in their attempt to go back to their hometowns using all kinds of excuses, reported Malay Mail.
The military is ready to work with the police to track down those who have travelled interstate without approval, reported The Star. Jen Tan Sri Affendi Buang, Armed Forces chief said that teams would be patrolling housing areas and villages during Hari Raya to track these flouters down.
“Spot checks will also be conducted on vehicles parked outside homes during the Hari Raya celebration,” he said.
“We want to find out whether the vehicle and its owner were permitted to travel interstate or otherwise.”
