With how much Uncle Kentang has done for our Malaysian community (and how much of an icon he’s become), it’s a little hard to imagine a world where he is no longer doing what he does.
And thanks to someone who he helped a long time ago, it looks like we never have to.
Kuan Chee Heng, aka Uncle Kentang, took to his Facebook page to share how a woman he had helped years back had stopped him from considering his retirement.
He wrote, “I am so touched. A lady whom we helped many years ago donated RM600 to help 2 single mums today. She told me not to give up and not to bother of what others say.”
“She told me she survived because we helped her many years ago.”
The woman had informed Uncle Kentang that his charity work is somewhat of a necessity to many struggling Malaysians.
“She told me many others need an avenue to seek help,”
“I was contemplating retiring and enjoying my life with my peers and my friends. Seeing them leave this world, one by one, it is my time to spend quality time with my children, my loved ones and my close friends,” he shared.
The woman showed up in his life again for a reason
“But today, you changed my direction. God sends people to encourage us when we are down,” he added.
Thankfully, this means that struggling Malaysians and Uncle Kentang supporters won’t be losing the philanthropist anytime soon.
We’re happy you’re not retiring, Uncle Kentang, but please do give yourself enough time to rest and relax with your loved ones too!
