A while ago, a Malay busker and a Chinese man melted the hearts of Malaysians when they gorgeously sang a bilingual (Mandarin and Malay) song together. Here’s the kicker, the Malay busker sang the Mandarin part of the song, while the Chinese man sang the Malay part of the song!
Now, the busker is back with another heartwarming moment he’s created thanks to his Mandarin language skills.
The busker, gismarrock07, took to his TikTok account to showcase how he surprised a group of Chinese diners at a hawker centre with his rendition of 我的好兄弟 (Wo De Hao Xiong Di) which is basically a song about friendship.
He wrote, “Happy Chinese New Year 2024! They just arrived as we were about to leave, but I managed to treat them to a song.”
In the video, gismarrock07 could be seen walking over to the group’s table with his guitar.
“I have one song to sing for you,” he told the group, who erupted into cheers from anticipation and excitement.
As they said thank you, he added, “I hope you know this song, we’ll sing it together.”
He then started singing 我的好兄弟 (Wo De Hao Xiong Di), and some from the group started singing along. By the time gismarrock07 got to the chorus, the whole table was singing and clapping along loudly and happily, even as they ate their food.
Seriously, this man could bring communities together with his covers!
