Unfortunately, the COVID-19 virus has rendered some businesses to mellow down, including cinemas. Movie enthusiasts, however, will still rush to the theatres for the cinematic experience.
Still, many cinemas in Malaysia have closed their doors due to deteriorating businesses. MBO Cinemas last week announced via its Facebook page that the outlet in Atria Shopping Gallery in Damansara Jaya, PJ will be closing down by the end of June 2024.
“With heavy hearts, our last day of operation in MBO Atria will be on 30 June 2024.”
With the date of the last day of operation set, the management of the cinema would have planned the showtimes and replenished the stocks of food and beverages for them to last until the cinema’s very last day.
Sometimes, we just can’t foresee anything.
In a shocking announcement this morning (June 21), MBO Cinemas in Atria Shopping Gallery issued a last-minute announcement and informed the patrons that they were going to cease operations STARTING TODAY.
MBO Cinemas, however, only said the sudden closure was due to unforeseen technical issues.
“We are deeply grateful for the support you have shown us throughout our time here,” MBO Cinemas said.
The cinema had no choice but to close its door 9 days earlier than scheduled. Another one bites the dust.
However, patrons who often visit the mall for the movies still have a few other options left if they prefer MBO Cinemas, which you can find the locations as listed below.
- MBO Quayside Mall, Kota Kemuning
- MBO Harbour Place, Klang
- MBO Brem Mall, Kepong
- MBO Space U8, Shah Alam
However, if you prefer someplace within the proximity, you can visit GSC Cinemas at Starling Mall in Damansara Utama, or TGV at 1 Utama Shopping Center.
MBO Cinemas Atria Shopping Gallery 1st opened its doors back in January 2019, about a year before COVID-19 struck the country.
Thank you, MBO Cinemas in Atria Mall for your service! (I remember watching Avengers: Endgame here in 2019 with the enthusiastic crowds!)
