Social media users were baffled to see a group of youth cooking at a gas station in Genting Highlands recently as part of their “healing.”
Well, they didn’t really heal after the group of 15 people was arrested by PDRM, and 4 of them pleaded guilty to cooking with a portable stove in a prohibited area. Those who pleaded guilty in the Bentong Magistrate Court today (May 21) are 23 and 24 years old.
Judge Nadratun Naiem Zainan questioned about the idea of cooking at the gas station, and 1 of them told the court,
“It was a random idea, and we were hungry.”
The person also told the court that the initial plan was to cook somewhere else but the area was packed and despite cooking at the gas station, she claimed that the group was far from the nozzle, according to a report.
Each of them was slapped with a fine of RM500.
Last week, PDRM received multiple reports from the public about the “cooking fiesta” at the gas station. The video circulated on social media, showing the crowded gas station where the group was seen hanging out and cooking instant noodles.
Hungry or not, far from the nozzle or not, the place is NOT meant for cooking for a reason. We hope the youth learned their lesson this time.
