Have you ever had neighbours who started drilling their walls at 7am on a Sunday? Well, we have.
Renovations can’t go without drilling and this couple who do not want to be named is very well-aware of that.
In a TikTok video, the couple shows how they gave a small gift to each of their neighbours before they started their renovation. The video has amassed 98,000 views, 4,592 likes and 166 comments.

In the video, we can see that the couple bought several packs of cookies and teabags to gift to their neighbours.
Along with the gifts, they attached a note that says:
“We have just moved in to (unit number). Since we will be having renovations for the next 2 months, here are some cookies and tea for your tea time. Please accept this as a form of apology for any inconvenience caused.”
After they distributed them, they started their renovations.
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, the couple said that they gave out the gifts to “start off on the right note” with their neighbours.
“It’s really just a gesture to start off on the right note, I mean there’s no way we can make up for the noise or inconvenience caused but maybe a small act can help add some good vibes.”
Singapore laws dictate that general renovations can only be carried out from 9.00am to 6.00pm, Monday to Saturday, excluding public holidays.
The couple believes those who start their renovations earlier than legally allowed hours are inconsiderate.
“Everyone wants to enjoy the peace and quiet at home especially at 7am.”
They added that there should be some sort of “warning” so that they will be able to plan their day to escape the noise.
“But if I wasn’t informed I wouldn’t be able to even prep for that so it would be totally frustrating!”
It’s so good to have neighbours like them who are considerate and respectful!
What about your neighbours? Do they inform you before they start their renovations or do you get woken up to the sound of drills? Let us know in the comments.
