With GE14 coming up, Najib is doing everything he can to win Malaysians over to vote for him, even if it means putting his ego and pride aside.
Our beloved PM Najib Razak has recently revealed a softer side we’ve not really seen as he approaches Malaysians with an earnest message of warmth in a new campaign video.
By laying out what he had set to accomplish since 2009, which include health services and education plans to ensure trained and educated individuals, he urges voters to maintain his administration as the ruling power of Malaysia, according to Free Malaysia Today.
Sitting in the humble seat, Najib admits to his limitations and confesses that his initial plans may not have been as successful as he thought they might be. This was a change in attitude from the competitive struggle with political critics and their accusations towards him for mishandling 1MDB.
“I admit my weaknesses, just like any other human being. There may be things I have missed. I accept all criticisms with an open mind, and I will always strive to improve myself,” said Najib.
“But there are also allegations that are not true and have no basis. I humbly ask the people to understand and not pass judgment without checking.”
The three-minute video titled, Dari Hati ke Hati (Heart to Heart) that was posted on Najib’s YouTube Channel featured our PM speaking about education, housing, health, spiritual development and human capital.
He added that he wants to assure every Malaysian that their health is in good hands, and that every individual has a chance for good education.
“I want to speak openly to the people of Malaysia, I want to say that I have tried my best for everyone.” Najib said, according to The Malay Mail.
He unveils his vulnerability in contrast to his usual offensive approach to his critics, namely Dr Mahathir Mohamad, leader of the Pakatan Harapan charge for GE14. Najib has constantly pointed out Mahathir’s senility and previous misconducts while saying that Dr M’s party would not last.
In the video clip, he told voters,
“I love every Malaysian citizen, and I think of your future. Whatever I do is to upgrade the quality of your life.”
Regarding Islam and the family institution, Najib added that Muslims should not worry because they will be able to perform their prayers in lovely mosques, and that they will be financially provided to perform their pilgrimage.
