The Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (JBPM) is conducting an internal investigation into a volunteer firefighter allegedly linked to a viral pornographic video circulating on social media recently.

JBPM Director-General Datuk Seri Nor Hisham Mohammad stated that although the man in the viral video was not in uniform, the same individual was seen wearing a firefighter uniform in several other posts on his social media account.

He said JBPM’s Integrity Unit has formed an investigation team to verify the true identity of the individual involved and to determine the source of the video’s dissemination.

“We will first investigate whether the video was uploaded voluntarily by the individual or distributed by another party.”

Nor Hisham added that immediate suspension from duty could be enforced under the service scheme if the investigation confirms the involvement of the volunteer firefighter.

He explained that suspension can be carried out immediately since the volunteer firefighter scheme is not a full-time service.

“JBPM does not compromise on integrity issues and constantly monitors the behaviour and social media content of its officers, even if no formal complaints are received.”

Stay tuned for more updates.
