Just yesterday on Sunday evening (14th July), flash floods reportedly hit the roads surrounding Genting Premium Outlet (GPO), leaving shoppers and visitors stranded there for about two hours.
According to Berita Harian, heavy rains hit the area and caused water to rush downhill, affecting GPO and Awana Skyway, and causing the area to experience flash floods. The heavy rain reportedly started at around 3pm that evening, causing Awana Skyway to temporarily close. A spokesperson for GPO told the daily,
“It was scary seeing so much water surrounding the area at the time, but luckily, the rain stopped at 5.30pm and the flood receded by 6.30pm. Awana Skyway also began operating as usual soon after that.”
Videos of the flood soon began to circulate on social media, showing muddy water rushing through the roads as well as the parking lot surrounding GPO and Awana Skyway.
