With every action comes a consequence. For the viral man who smacked the lady driver’s head, he’s bearing the consequences by facing a jail time of 7 days.
29-year-old Muhammad Zaim was sentenced to 7 days of jail after pleading guilty to 2 charges – threatening and hurting the victim. He was charged with threatening the 25-year-old driver, who was told by Zaim,
“I’m gonna smash your face!”
For the threat, he was charged under Section 506 Penal Code which brings a maximum prison sentence of 7 years. Additionally, Zaim was also charged under Section 323 Penal Code for hurting the female driver, which brings a jail time of 1 year and an RM2,000 fine.
Zaim was not represented by anyone at the court, according to Kosmo.
The incident took place on KM22 Jalan Tapah – Cameron Highlands on June 5, where Zaim claimed the female driver attempted to take over his car but failed as there was incoming traffic from the other lane. Her act endangered Zaim and he was worried about his pregnant wife and 4-year-old kid who were also in the car.
Another report by Berita Harian said that Zaim requested a lighter punishment as he has a wife and a kid to feed, with an RM4,000 monthly income. Judge Siti Hanum acknowledged that and gave him a friendly reminder.
“Every action affects yourself and others. Think before you act.”
During the incident, Zaim went got out of his car and approached the female driver, where he scolded her for her reckless driving before smacking her on the head, as well as verbally threatening her. In case you missed it, you can read the stories from both parties here.
Now that Zaim is paying for his actions, we hope that he will take this time to reflect on the whole incident. In the meantime, we do hope that all drivers out there will be careful and patient when you’re behind the wheel. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
