Looks like this rat was bored of eating the same old thing every day and wanted to try some human food for a change!

Just recently, a video showing a rat helping itself to what looks like a piece of cabbage from a buffet counter in a cafeteria, began circulating on social media.

The incident is said to have taken place in Hospital Tunku Ampuan Rahimah (HTAR), Klang and many netizens are understandably alarmed at the unsanitary conditions. According to the New Straits Times, the hospital’s management just launched an internal investigation to confirm if the incident really did occur in their canteen.

“So far, we have yet to confirm that the video was taken at the HTAR canteen,” said HTAR director Dr Ding Lay Ming.

“We are investigating to find out where and when the video was recorded, before taking further action.”

The cafeteria was also closed since the video surfaced, so that a thorough inspection can be carried out.

However, it looks like this isn’t the first time the hospital has caught the attention of Malaysians. In 2015, The Star reported that 200 rats were caught from HTAR Klang’s wards after the canteen was discovered to be a potential breeding area.

Let’s hope the hospital’s management conducts a thorough inspection of their cafeteria to be on the safe side!
