On Tuesday afternoon (14th March) at 4.25 in the evening, a car crashed into a motorcyclist at an intersection in Pandan Indah. The accident was recorded by a Facebook user’s dashboard camera and quickly gained widespread attention as it circulated the internet, with over 10,000 shares currently.
The video shows a motorcycle driving through a T-junction at a traffic light. A white Perodua Alza can be seen speeding from the right and crashing into the motorcycle driver, sending him flying and landing near the other side of the road.
The driver appeared to be knocked unconscious as he lay motionless on the road. Two women sitting in the car (off-camera) can be heard shouting in terror as they witnessed the accident.
According to a statement by Facebook user Sinji, who recorded and witnessed the accident first-hand, said she saw the Alza racing to beat the yellow light before it turned red.
However, the video shows the motorcyclist waiting in the yellow box and beginning to drive as the traffic lights changed.
Sinji says it was hard to determine which driver was the one at fault because of this.
Currently, no police report relating to this accident has been made, according to Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Hamzah Elias. According to The Star Online, Asst Comm Hamzah also made checks at the nearby Ampang Hospital and found a case that was similar to the accident that went viral on Facebook.
