If you’re a thrill-seeker and love going on roller coaster rides at theme parks, you should know that they are not always 100% safe. This was evident at a theme park in Cianorte, a city in Brazil, where a roller coaster derailed off its track and injured three people.
On 7th August, the Pinafari Wasky Worm ride, a children’s roller coaster, was carrying about a dozen passengers onboard and started out slow before building up the pace. But as the ride approached a turning, the roller coaster went off track, throwing its passengers off the structure completely.
Even though the turning wasn’t that sharp, the speed of the ride and the momentum of the sudden change in direction caused the roller coaster to swing off the track. A video of the incident was taken by an onlooker who managed to catch a few seconds of the accident.
According to The Sun, three people were injured and had to be taken to the hospital for treatment.
Previously, the theme park’s ride had undergone three safety inspections by the local council, and was also inspected after the recent derailing incident.
The owner claims that the rides are “inspected frequently and tested daily before the opening of the site”. Meanwhile, officials are still investigating what exactly caused the derailment.

This is so scary! Hopefully, theme parks will deem this as a serious issue and do something about their potentially faulty rides. Even though this happened in Brazil, it could very well happen in Malaysia too. Stay safe, guys!
