Taking to Threads, this netizen shared what happened at a famous Korean BBQ restaurant in Sunway Pyramid when the power went out as people were dining during Iftar.
In her video, plates of uncooked food, food that was still on the grill, cups of drinks, and a rather empty restaurant became the aftermath of what appeared to be a power outage.
“Everyone left in the midst of iftar, as power sources for the grills and hotpots were no longer available.”
“It is sad to see all this food go to waste,” she added.
Taking to the comments section, netizens asked if they were refunded due to the experience customers faced that day.
“Yes, we were given a refund, but it took thirty minutes of waiting for the power to come back on.”
One user said, “Can’t they take away the food instead? Apparently not, because it is company policy.”
Update on March 11: Seoul Garden responds
Speaking to WORLD OF BUZZ, a Seoul Garden representative clarified that immediate action was taken, and all diners were fully refunded on the day of the incident.
As for the no-takeaway policy, which led to concerns about food wastage among netizens, Seoul Garden explained that this policy is in place primarily to uphold stringent food safety standards.
“The majority of our menu items consist of raw ingredients that require specific handling and consumption conditions. Allowing takeaways in such cases without a clear timeframe for consumption could pose risks of food contamination, potentially leading to serious health concerns. Our policy is implemented with our customers’ well-being as the top priority.”
With that said, Seoul Garden also confirmed that the matter has been fully resolved.
