It’s tough out there for a fresh graduate. The pressure that comes with months of job-hunting can definitely take its toll, and often times, most settle for a temporary minimum-wage job just to get by before a better offer comes along. Now, it looks like there just might be another job opportunity that university graduates can consider!

According to the South China Morning Post, recent news of job advertisements for public toilet managers in the city of Wuhan caught a lot of attention and criticism online.

This was because one of the requirements listed in the ad was that applicants need to have at least a bachelor’s degree in order to qualify for the job.

Needless to say, the requirement got a barrage of criticism from Chinese netizens, with one commenting that his educational background might not be enough to work in public toilets. Others joked that supervisors working at these public toilets would probably need masters degrees to qualify for the job.

Although this appears to be brand new information to a lot of people, an official from the district urban management committee stated that this job requirement was always in place. The official added that individuals appointed to this job are in charge of several public toilets and have to conduct daily patrols and oversee maintenance of the facilities.

“They’re not cleaners. They are responsible for management. Our committee values talent. Getting talented people to run toilets shows the high importance we attach to public toilets.”

What do you think of these job requirements? Would this work in Malaysia? Let us know in the comments below!
