Just yesterday, it was announced that a few lucky Malaysians had become overnight millionaires after winning the RM121 million jackpot from the Sports Toto Supreme 6/58 Jackpot Game.

Now, a familiar face is urging them to use some of the money they won to do some good.

Malaysian philanthropist, Uncle Kentang, took to his Facebook page to request for the winners to spend a small portion of their winnings by purchasing an ambulance for his cause.

He wrote, “Toto winners, where are you? I hope that the 3 Toto winners can donate an ambulance to our organisation. Each new ambulance costs RM300,000 and secondhand ones cost RM220,000.”

“I hope that the 3 winners will read this and help because many elderly people in our country suffer from strokes and cancer, and many of them are poor, bedridden and need an ambulance to go to hospitals for follow-ups.”

His request also goes beyond just the Sports Toto winners as he hopes businesses will also step up to assist.

“Any companies or businesses can also call me to inquire about sponsorships and donations. We need all of you to act together and show kindness to the poor and the sick.”

Netizens gave mixed reactions towards the posting

While some people were supportive of his suggestion, others believed Uncle Kentang shouldn’t trouble the winners for donations.

“If I won, I would have no problem with buying a new (ambulance). But, I do hope that the winner can take out a little bit to help more people in need. Thank you!”

“This post is a bit inappropriate. The winner paid for their tickets. Maybe they were really lucky and won after buying (tickets) a few times. But, I do hope they see this and help out if they can.”

“The winners have the right to decide how they want to spend the money, right? If a winner doesn’t donate to buy an ambulance, does that mean they are not good people? People who didn’t win the lottery can also donate through crowdfunding. Don’t blackmail the winners morally.”
