Malaysia is a beautiful country with various cultures that should all be celebrated and it looks like AirAsia may just be planning to do so! Our country’s beloved budget airline company seems to be hinting that they might upgrade their uniforms to sleek new apparel that fits our multicultural background.
On October 30, AirAsia founder Tan Sri Tony Fernandes uploaded a post on Instagram that has since gone viral with more than 10,000 likes, which shows a photo of a flight attendant dressed in a gorgeous saree in the budget airline’s theme colours.
It appears that the uniform was for the recent Deepavali celebration and Fernandes hinted that national costumes for the AirAsia crew could be in the works. His caption reads,
“AirAsia India uniform for Diwali. Looks so cool. We are going to do many more national costumes. Doesn’t Amruta look great?”
The saree was a huge hit among netizens as they found it to be an awesome upgrade to the existing uniform with its signature red colour. Amruta was decked in a black cropped top and draped with a red saree that had white and black patterns on it. And we know AirAsia loves these colours!
Netizens who saw the post were greatly intrigued by the idea of our different cultures being represented in the uniforms and even suggested that AirAsia come up with other traditional wear such as the cheongsam, kebaya or even baju kurung for the airline.
Most of them praised the costume’s beauty and said, “Great idea! That’s really creative and maybe the men can wear batik shirts too!”
Some netizens however, were more practical and wondered about the safety of these garments but we suppose that should these stunning uniforms be launched, the airline would have figured how to make it both functional and pretty at the same time!
Let’s hope that it becomes a reality because it really looks good!
