The First Shabu-Shabu Restaurant for Forever Alone People in Malaysia Just Opened in Johor!
We’ve seen it on social media, and now we can finally experience it for ourselves! To our single friends, THIS IS YOUR CHANCE.
It’s finally our time to bid our single lives goodbye because the match-making shabu-shabu restaurant is here in Johor! FYI: This concept originated in China, but it’s a first here in Malaysia.
We won’t usually eat hotpot alone, but this time, we definitely can. It’s an excellent chance for us to meet new people, and not get extremely awkward because there’s no better place to bond over delicious food.
Here’s how it works: The customer will be seated at a single table, and do note the wooden blinds that are installed in front of them (in between the two random strangers). The screen can be opened by both people at the same — but if you find that the other person makes you uncomfortable, you can actually shut the blinds and resume eating alone. So it’s not as invasive as you think!
This unique restaurant is called Happiness Mini Shabu-Shabu (幸福小锅-没有孤单的火锅), located at Indahpura, Kulai. According to Goody25, the shop made it clear that this “match-making” concept is to provide a chance for us to meet new people and not necessarily romance. In a way, they meant “don’t get your hopes up” lah, but it ain’t gonna stop us from dreaming. 🤭

Honestly, who would mind eating alone when this beautiful platter is spread before our eyes? Ahem.

Other than shooting your shot at meeting strangers over your favourite shabu-shabu, you can also dine with your friends and family! The shop made sure to be inclusive not only for solo eaters but large groups as well.
Would you try this unique way of meeting new people? Let us know in the comments!
