Chinese New Year celebrations are still ongoing and while you’re busy stuffing yourself with bakwa and yee sang, don’t forget to spend time with family and admire the bright coloured decor all around you before they disappear for another year!

No CNY celebration is complete without loud and festive performances that can be heard from a mile away. In fact, at this Spring of Serenia event, you can expect performances from the best of the best!

These awe-inducing performances will include a lion dance performance by the 2019 National Lion Dance Champions that will surely make your hair stand, as well as, a spellbinding Spring Flower Dance performance whereby a group of girls dressed in beguiling flower costumes will be performing the ever enchanting spring dance. The Spring Flower Dance is the main show so don’t miss it!

A lot of the CNY decor you see around you involves very careful techniques, patience, and practice. Some of these decor items include the couplets, lanterns, paper cutouts of Chinese characters, and so much more.

And if you want to try your hand at some flowery DIY CNY decor items, make sure you join these activities at the event:

• Bring a little piece of the event back with you by dropping by the Flower Painting booth where professional artists will turn your name or initials into a colourful floral piece
• If you love the smell of flowers, try your hand at personalising your very own floral diffuser at the Fragrance Diffuser workshop too!

 

4. Super ‘ong’ lucky draws to test your luck

When it comes to CNY, luck is a very integral part of it. Are you lucky enough to score all the big ang pows? Will you be lucky enough to get two pieces of salmon slices instead of one during the lou sang? Is it finally the year you beat your friends at Mah Jong or Blackjack? It’s all based on pure luck.

Well, if you’re feeling lucky this year, make sure you take part in the lucky draw! To do so, you must:

1. Register at the counter and receive an ang pow packet
2. Write your name and contact number on the ang pow
3. Hang the ang pow on the Golden Tree

The emcee will pick a random ang pow from the Tree to win the following prizes from Sharp:

• 1 x 50-inch TV to catch up on your Netflix shows
• 1 x Washing Machine to wash all your sweaty CNY clothes
• 1 x Refrigerator to store all the mandarin oranges you’ve been receiving
• 4 x Rice Cookers, because everyone loves rice

 

5. There will also be traditional, mouth-watering Chinese New Year food served!!!
